Electric Conductivity Meters or EC Meters are sensitive analyses instruments designed to accurately measure the electrical conductivity in a liquid or solution.
EC Meters for Plants and Garden
EC Meters are mainly used to measure nutrients, salt, minerals and impurities in water. The higher the EC level, the higher the concentration of salts and minerals present in the liquid.
Keeping track of the EC level is particularly important for people involved with hydroponics, aquaponics, aquaculture, water-treatment installations, and other related industries such as laboratories, pools, ponds and aquariums. You can find out more about EC right here.
EC Meter in our catalogue
If you need a professional EC Meter that can do the job anytime, please have a look at our Meytec® GT-200S meter. This is a Conductivity meter with 4in1 function, capable of accurately measuring EC, TDS, SALT and Temperature.
Our Meytec® GT-200C meter is the combo meter designed to measure EC and pH at the same time. This type of combo meter would be ideal for all our customers involved with hydroponics as they measure pH and EC often together. Obviously if you are a heavy user, it would be beneficial for you to combine your 2 most used testers into one single device.
Our Meytec® GT-Series feature a durable, shock proof design, IP67 rating, advanced microprocessors battery monitor, easy automatic calibration, replaceable electrode and a clear high-resolution display.
EC Meter Calibration and Storage
For a precise calibration of your EC Meter, you need premium Conductivity Standard. This is a reference solution with a fixed EC level. Because we know the exact EC level of the conductivity standard, we can calibrate our EC Meter against this value.
EC Meters do not need to be calibrated as much as their pH meter cousins. In fact, you should only calibrate your EC meter if you have a large discrepancy between the actual measurement and your reference solution. We offer professional grade Meytec® Conductivity Standard available in 1.413 mS/cm and 12.88 mS/cm.
When you are finished with your EC measurement, take some absorbent paper, and dry the electrode. We want it to be nice, clean a dry before we put the protective end-cap back on the EC Meter. Store it in a dark and dry place at room temperature. Remove the batteries should you not use it for a long time.
